About Us

Our Story
Originally I come from a tiny hamlet in the Lake District. I moved to Preston in 1990 aged 17 1/2 to do my nurse training - wow was that a shock to the system! A busy bustling city, so many new friends to meet and living in the nurses home was certainly an adventure and yes it's all true what they say about nurses! ; )

I worked for 22 years as a nurse, 14 of those as a matron with a speciality in palliative care until I became ill at age 38 and had to retire on medical grounds. Now I live with my husband Mark and our gorgeous black rescue cat Dudley, nestled in a farming town on the borders of Yorkshire, Lancashire and Cumbria (though I'll always be a true Cumbrian at heart!) We live in assisted living due to my complex medical needs but we just love
it. I have carers 5 1/2 hours a day who are such a massive help with making the journals, while Mark hand dyes all the papers with tea, coffee, blue tea, blackberries, nettles... anything we can find - the list is endless and so fascinating!
I was met with major challenges, both physically and emotionally, but in time and after lots of input I became my positive self once again thanks to learning how to craft and particularly to journal.
Journalling allows you to express your feelings and emotions - just the act of writing them down and getting them out of your head (called a braindump) is therapy in itself But journaling is so much more! It's so fun, inspirational, thought provocking and just a great hobby to have.

We hope you will enjoy your visit to our website, feel free to reach out if you would like to ask any questions about journalling or FND and we'll respond as soon as we can!
